Multiple Shipping Locations

Postby dpolk on Mon Oct 27, 2008 6:16 pm

I ship from CA, OH, FL, KS and TX, with our HQ being in Texas. Each ship from location has its own serial # range, but there is no human readeable distinction between shipping tags from the various plants.

Should each plant use their own address as the ship from or use the HQ address?

The human readable information on a shipping label is defined by your trading partner agreement.

When you refer to serial numbers being unique to to each shipping location, you should be able to carry your current serial numbers when building an EPC. Just be sure that all EPCs are unique, so take care when using serial # ranges. We have additional information and links to EPCglobal resources in our Translate U.P.C.
